1) Sexual health
The World Health Organization defines sexual health as a state of physical, emotional, mental and social well-being in relation to sexuality; it is not merely the absence of disease, dysfunction or infirmity.
There’s no reason to be embarrassed about wanting great sexual health — getting answers about and treatment for all health problems is important.
We provide consultation for STDs and HIV, to contraception and female sexual dysfunctions.
We can comprehensively test for Sexually Transmitted Infections including doing PAP smears, urine and swab tests as well.
We also provide vaccinations for individuals who want protection from common viruses and illnesses.
2) General medicine :
Our priority is to help you stay healthy. When you schedule regular and consistent health screening appointments, you help yourselves by detecting early signs of diseases and potential health risks.
At DTAP clinic, we help you in providing a large selection of health screening packages that are well suited for all walks of life.
3) Women’s wellness and nutrition :
We are health conscious, but for some strange reason, for women aged 40 – 50, our health and wellness increasingly take centre stage in our lives.
Trying to balance the demands of family and work or school—and coping with media pressure to look and eat a certain way—can make it difficult for any woman to maintain a healthy lifestyle and diet.
The right food and lifestyle can not only support your mood, boost your energy, and help you maintain a healthy weight, it can also be a huge support through the different stages in a woman’s life.
Our clinic can provide consults to build your dietary choices and supplements around your vital nutritional needs and help guide you on appropriate lifestyle changes.
4) Women’s cancer screening and vaccinations :
Screening means checking your body for cancer before you have symptoms. Getting screening tests regularly may find breast, cervical, and colorectal (colon) cancers early, when treatment is likely to work best. Lung cancer screening is recommended for some people who are at high risk.
We also provide the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine which protects against the HPV types that most often cause cervical, vaginal, vulvar, and anal cancers. It is recommended for females from reproductive age and males from 9 to 45 years old
The HPV vaccine does not substitute for routine cervical cancer screening (Pap and HPV tests).
Hepatitis B is a liver disease caused by the Hepatitis B virus (HBV) that can lead to liver disease or liver cancer. The hepatitis B vaccine is available for all age groups to prevent HBV infection.
5) Pap Smear :
A Pap smear, also called a Pap test, is a procedure to test for cervical cancer in women. A Pap smear involves collecting cells from your cervix — the lower, narrow end of your uterus that’s at the top of your vagina.
Detecting cervical cancer early with a Pap smear gives you a greater chance at a cure. A Pap smear can also detect changes in your cervical cells that suggest cancer may develop in the future. Detecting these abnormal cells early with a Pap smear is your first step in halting the possible development of cervical cancer.
6) Human Papillomavirus (HPV ) Vaccine :
HPV is a very common virus that has affected a large population in the world. Most people with HPV never develop symptoms or health problems. Most HPV infections (9 out of 10) go away by themselves within two years. But, sometimes, HPV infections will last longer, and can cause certain cancers and other diseases. HPV infection can cause:
- cancers of the cervix, vagina, and vulva in women;
- cancers of the penis in men; and
- cancers of the anus and back of the throat, including the base of the tongue and tonsils (oropharynx), in both women and men.
HPV vaccine can prevent most genital warts and most cases of cervical cancer and is recommended for women through age 26 to 45, and young men through age 21.
Protection from HPV vaccine is expected to be long-lasting.
7) Women’s STD Screening, Testing & Treatments :
Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are also called sexually transmitted infections, or STIs. STDs are usually spread by having vaginal, oral, or anal sex. Some STDs can be cured and some STDs cannot be cured. For those STDs that cannot be cured, there are medicines to manage the symptoms.
If you are sexually active, we recommend the STD testing and we will further advice on which tests you will need and how often you need to get them will depend on you and your partner’s sexual history.
For some STDs, treatment may involve taking medicine by mouth or getting an injection. For other STIs that can’t be cured, like herpes, HPV or HIV and AIDS, we provide medications that can help reduce the symptoms.
8) Skin Health Issues :
The skin is the largest organ in the body. It is the first line of defence against bacteria and injury, and often reflects overall health. Our mission is to assist and provide dermatological care for patients through detailed consultations and diagnostics, and specifically construed treatment plans to help with your skin conditions.
Our services include treatments for:
- Acne and rosacea
- Bumps on skin
- Venereal diseases
- Eczema/ dermatitis
- Melasma/ hyperpigmentation
- Dry and itchy skin
- Dull complexion
- Moles and warts
- Skin Cancers
9) Anonymous HIV testing :
HIV testing shows if a person has HIV virus in their system. Knowing your HIV status can help keep you and your partner safe.
In DTAP KL we offer and provide anonymous HIV testing which is done on our premises and results are available within 20 minutes. All procedures and consultations are strictly confidential between doctor and patient, so you don’t have to be concerned about personal details.
10) Cardiovascular health :
Heart disease is a leading cause of death worldwide and affects not only the heart but other major parts of the body. Early detection prevents complications such as heart failure, stroke, kidney disease and artery disease.
Our clinic emphasises in the important aspect of lowering risk of cardiovascular disease, also called coronary artery disease (CAD), by managing health behaviours and risk factors, such as diet quality, physical activity, smoking, body mass index (BMI), blood pressure, total cholesterol or blood glucose.
